FMRI Image Processing for Brain Tumor Detection and Characterization.
The project involves using FMRI scan images to detect the growth of tumors in Brain. The technique involves processing the images at the level of individual pixels that gives the level of correlation between adjacent pixels. It has been observed that in the tumor regions, the pixel-to-pixel correlation is significantly higher than in non-tumor regions. This has led to the development of an algorithm that characterizes the tumor growth in Brain depending on how much inter-pixel correlation has been detected. This technique has been demonstrated and its proof of concept has been shown using MATLAB. The technology is viable and can also be implemented using existing technologies
