Association of Principals of Technical Institutions (APTI), first started in 1941 was renamed as "Indian Society for Technical Education" in 1968 with a mission to propel the cause of education in general and all its function which pertain to engineering and allied branches of engineering and technology namely process of teaching and learning, research, architecture, town planning, pharmacy, management and its extension services. The main goal is to serve as a common agency for stimulating and guiding its members to formulate the general goals and responsibilities of technical education for the service of mankind and the advancement of general welfare.
