ABOUT THE COMPANY
Blippar is a New York/London based company with additional offices in Amsterdam, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Chicago, Delhi, Istanbul and Tokyo.
Blippar is a visual browsing app using image-recognition and augmented reality technologies to overlay the physical world with digital content via the device's camera.
Blippar.com is a company which basically creates Augmented Reality app that unlocks exclusive content from everyday things. These apps have the ability to turn your phone into a magic lens giving you a whole new, interactive view on the physical world around you using Augmented Reality and Image-Recognition technologies.
Users download the Blippar app to smartphones, tablets or wearable's (including Google Glass), and then scan (‘blipp') images to unlock interactive digital content. Blippable images (‘markers') can be found on Blippar partner products, packaging, printed pages, adverts, outdoor marketing and screens. Blipping can launch anything a phone or tablet can do, including mobile games, videos, music, web links, PDF downloads opinion polls and image galleries. In June 2014 Blippar acquired Dutch AR player Layer based in Amsterdam, forming the world's largest AR user base.
Blippar was founded in the U.K. in 2011 by Ambarish Mitra (Chief Executive Officer), Omar Tayeb (Chief Technology Officer), Steve Spencer (Chief Creative Officer) and Jessica Butcher (Chief Marketing Officer).
The concept for the company was inspired by a joke Mitra and Tayeb shared about bringing the Queen to life from a £20 note. Tayeb developed a proof-of-concept and they both quit their jobs to start Blippar. In the summer of 2011, the first campaigns launched in the U.K. with Cadbury, Domino's and Tesco. Blippar's first U.S. offices opened in New York one year later.
The company's initial seed funding was provided by Qualcomm Ventures

In March 2014, Blippar CEO Ambarish Mitra demonstrated the Blippar App on Google Glass, which was the first instance of image recognition on the platform at the time. The company later introduced games for Glass using image recognition, AR and gesture recognition. In November of 2014, the company partnered with Jaguar to launch a multi-platform campaign on both mobile and Google Glass.
In June of 2014, Blippar announced that it had acquired Amsterdam-based rival Layer for an undisclosed amount. At the time, the combined companies totalled 50 million mobile app users, as well as "5,000 brands and publishers and over 100,000 self-publishing partners" in over 175 countries

Blipps can do anything a phone or tablet can, so blipping can launch a video, an audio clip, a game, a photo gallery, a website or a PDF. It can also download a secondary app, send an email, dial a number, enable a virtual ‘try-on', open a survey or provide users with a printable coupon or voucher. The app also connects directly to social media platforms – including Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
Blippar has a vision high success in India and rest of Asia, and eager to reinforce its presence in Asia. Blippar will have New Delhi as headquarters, with representation in Mumbai and operations from Bangalore. As India is the country that has huge youth population who have keen interest in technology will support and boost Blippar. By expanding partnerships across multinational companies, agencies and operators, Blippar India will soon become the country's biggest and most widely used image-recognition platform, and the bridge between the online and offline worlds.
Currently the Blippar is available for Android, iPhone and iPad, and selected Windows devices. So starts doing Blipp.

PROJECT- Blipp for Kings XI-IPL
Augmented reality (AR) is a live direct or indirect view of a physical, real-world environment whose elements are augmented (or supplemented) by computer-generated sensory input such as sound, video, graphics or GPS data. It is related to a more general concept called mediated reality, in which a view of reality is modified (possibly even diminished rather than augmented) by a computer. As a result, the technology functions by enhancing one's current perception of reality. By contrast, virtual reality replaces the real world with a simulated one. Augmentation is conventionally in real-time and in semantic context with environmental elements, such as sports scores on TV during a match. With the help of advanced AR technology (e.g. adding compute vision and object recognition) the information about the surrounding real world of the user becomes interactive and digitally manipulable. Artificial information about the environment and its objects can be overlaid on the real world.
Recently Kings XI- Punjab, one of the leading teams in IPL has given a contract to Blippar. com to create a Blipp( Application) for their team. This blipp (application) is being created keeping in mind the visual browsing feature which is a new revolution in technology. It will work on image recognition platform which empowers brands, publishers, advertisers and educators with a thrilling 3D experience to customers via smartphones, tablets and wearables.
Using this application user can simply open each image and using the Blippar app, fill your phone's view with it. Blipp! Discover, enjoy and share with friends! This Blippar(app) will bring the static, physical world to life - whether at home, in-store or on the go, like it's earlier application using AUGMENTED REALITY.
