REPORT ON WORKSHOP ON VIRTUAL LAB– 31Aug 15
Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering, Dronacharya Group of Institutions, Greater Noida organized a Workshop on ‘Virtual Labs' on 31Aug 15.The objective of the workshop was to create awareness of Virtual Labs among second yearstudents and faculty members. Our 72 second year students(CSE-40 CSIT-02, EEE-04, ECE-09 & ME-17) and 6 faculty members attended the workshop. One faculty member, Mr. K. P. Singhfrom ITS, Greater Noida also attended the workshop. Mr. T. T. Das, Outreach-In –Charge, Mr. BhairabPatra,CSE/IT V-Lab Mentor, Mr.NitinAgarwal,ECE/EEE V-Lab Mentor and Mr. Guru Dutt Sharma, Physical Sciences Lab Mentor from Bharti Telecom Center, IIT Delhi were the Resource persons for the workshop.
The event began with the floral welcome of the resource persons by Prof. (Dr.)S.K. Bagga, Director, DGI,Greater Noida. The director appraised the students regarding the advantages and usefulness of virtual labs. He motivated the students to utilize the virtual lab facility. This was followed by a presentation by Prof. (Dr.) H. S. Duawho explained the various aspects of utilization of virtual labs by the students.
The first Technical Session began with the presentation and brief overview of National impact of Virtual Lab on students and teachers by Mr. T. T. Das of IIT Delhi.He also discussed the daily usage and benefits of Virtual Labs.Heexplained the roleand importance of Virtual Labs in bridging the gap between the typical syllabi of Technical Universities and existing Labs.
Thereafter, Mr.Bhairab, Mr. Guru Dutt& Mr. NitinAgarwaldemonstrated the lab experiment likeString Operation,Recursion and Factorialfor the students of 2ndyear CSE/IT and EEE/ECE.He alsodiscussed the uses of Virtual lab in their Courses.
Inthe post lunch session,the Machine Dynamics and Machine Vibration Lab experiments were demonstrated for ME/CEIInd year students . After sessions in the seminar hall, students were given hands on practice in various computer labs. Feedback on the Vlab experiments executed by the students themselves was submitted by them online.
The workshop came to an end with presentation of memento to the resource persons by honorable Director, Prof. (Dr.) S.K. Bagga.
Overall, the workshop has been quite fruitful for our Second year students as it gave them an exposure to adopt the Vlab experimentation technique so as to learn the basics at their own pace by doing these experiments from anywhere and anytime.
